1. What does AMS Australia do?
AMS Australia designs and manufactures hardware security solutions for Government and the commercial sector. As well as one off solutions we also offer a range of microswitch boxes that can be used as part of an intrusion alarm system, other monitored device or building management system.
2. How does the microswitch box work?
The microswitch box incorporates a plunger microswitch that, when coming into contact with a lock, can alert a central monitoring station that the lock mechanism has engaged. In addition, the microswitch box houses a lever arm tamper switch that activates when the box cover is removed. As an added measure, security screws are used to secure the face plate.
3. What is the microswitch box made of?
The products have a stainless steel face plate and the body is constructed of seam welded mild steel. Product dimensions are outlined at the end of this paper.
4. What type of electrical wiring is required?
Standard security wiring applies depending on the installation system and requirements.
5. What type of door or access point can it be installed in?
The microswitch box can be installed in steel, aluminium or wooden frames.
6. What are the applications for the microswitch box?
The microswitch box can be used in a diverse range of applications which include, but are not limited to, securing rooms by monitoring door or lock latch or bolt position, manhole covers and freezers. It fits all EOL (end of line) devices or modules and can be used to activate alarms and trigger CCTV cameras.
7. What sizes do the microswitch boxes come in?
The microswitch boxes are available in a range of sizes depending on the application and desired compatibility with specified door furniture.
8. Are the microswitch boxes retrofittable?
Yes, the products are designed as a cost effective solution to lock and access monitoring.
9. Can you design and manufacture a product for a particular application?
Custom designed models can be developed to meet user specific applications. For example, some models incorporate a magnetic reed switch/triple reed within the microswitch box. This monitors the door position and works in conjunction with the lock monitoring.
